Little Girl following me on her bike: Can I ask you a question?
Me: Sure.
Little Girl: Are you a boy or a girl?
Me: What do you think?
LG: I think you're a girl. But why are you wearing a boy hat?
Me: Well, you see it's like this: you know how like everybody always says that girls should be pretty and like to play with dolls and be really feminine...
LG: And like fashion and stuff...
Me: Right. And everyone wants boys to be like tough and into sports and stuff? Well, it's not always like that. Everybody is different and we all express ourselves differently.
LG: You know, I used to wear a boy hat at school and I got embarrassed so I stopped.
Me: You stopped because you thought people would make fun of you, right?
LG: Yeah, they did.
Me: See, it's not good to do that because people should be able to wear whatever they want and just be themselves. Don't you think?
LG: Did you know that I'm only six years old and I never knew this before but now I know. I'm learning so much today!
Me: Wow, that's great. You're really smart.
LG: Yeah, I am!
